Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Principles

  • We create a working environment where we all understand the value of, and are committed to, diversity, inclusion and belonging.

  • We apply these principles not only to the way we treat each other, but also to contractors, visitors, customers, suppliers and former employees.

We

  • champion inclusive behaviours and treat everyone with dignity and respect;
  • make people decisions based on merit;
  • value the diversity in us all;
  • ensure everyone feels included and create inclusive environments and a sense of belonging;
  • appreciate the differing needs of our people and take reasonable steps to accommodate them;
  • do not tolerate bullying, harassment or unfair discrimination of any kind, by anyone;
  • ensure a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination based on age, disability, gender (including identity, expression and reassignment), marital or civil partner status, parental status (including maternity, paternity and adoption status), race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristic; and
  • read the introduction to our Code and Group Policies to understand to whom they apply and the consequences for breaching them.

Leaders

In addition to the general expectations of leaders set out in the introduction to our Code and Group Policies, leaders:​
  • actively build an inclusive culture by demonstrating and promoting inclusive behaviours;
  • ensure their team members are all treated equally, fairly and are included;
  • recruit and develop our people on merit, irrespective of their diversity; and
  • apply their own judgement to make decisions in line with our values for anything that may not be explicitly covered in this policy.
